Meet our team

  • Yasmina Samaai Salie

    Yasmina is a qualified Social Worker holding a degree from the University of Cape Town. Her academic journey has been uniquely enriched by a deep and abiding passion for Islamic Sciences, in which she pursued a degree in Islamic Sciences and is currently engaged in postgraduate studies.This parallel exploration revealed a profound alignment between the core principles of social work and her Islamic values. This inspired her to integrate these two vital fields in her professional practice.

    Yasmina practices privately where she focuses on individual counselling, premarital and marital counselling as well as religious OCD counselling. She has also supervised social work students at The University of Cape Town, where she is known for her thoughtful, empathetic and thorough teaching style.

    Driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to the Muslim community, her commitment to continuous learning extends to the intersections of social work, Islamic sciences, and both South African and Islamic law, areas she particularly enjoys.

  • Aqeelah Idas Saiet

    Aqeelah Idas is a qualified social worker trained in clinical psychotherapy, with a strong academic foundation from the University of Cape Town, where she completed both her undergraduate and clinical honours degrees in Social Work.

    With several years of experience in guidance counselling, Aqeelah is especially passionate about the ways in which early life experiences shape the human psyche. Her therapeutic work centres on trauma, attachment, and the mother-infant relationship, drawing on object relations and attachment theory to support clients in deep, meaningful ways.

    She has also worked at the University of Cape Town for several years as a clinical supervisor, mentoring and supporting social work students in their field practice and therapeutic development. Currently, her research explores postnatal mental health—an extension of her enduring commitment to maternal wellbeing and the emotional lives of women and families.

    Compassionate, grounded, and clinically informed, Aqeelah brings depth, care, and insight to her work with individuals navigating life’s emotional complexities.
